There are many reasons patientsmay require tooth extraction and sometimes it is the only way to restore your mouth to full functionality.

Possible reasons for tooth extraction include:

Irreversible damage from decay
Overcrowding in the mouth
Baby teeth requiring removal
Tooth removal due to necessary radiation treatment
Recurring tooth infections due to medications which have weakened the immune system
Removal of impacted wisdom teeth

At Penwortham Dental, we will explore all available options before a tooth is removed and will take care to explain the reasons behind extraction and the benefits of the procedure before further steps are taken.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth (or third molars) can become stuck or impacted in the jaw causing pain or infection. When this occurs, your dentist may advise you that extraction is the best course of action.

Often, the procedure can be carried out at Penwortham Dental with sedation therapy. However, where wisdom teeth have become severely impacted or there are other complications, we will refer you to an oral surgeon.
